To: german@jarman.netHello, I saw your querie on mailing list asking about Nellie Bell. I
am also curious about Nellie Bell since I am researching the Bells of
Randolph Co. I noticed you mentioned she has an illeg. child and you
must have found a bastard bond for Nellie and this child. I would love
to have a copy of this for my records on the illusive Bells that might
be related to my "Elizabeth Bell" born 1790-95 & who also had illeg.
children... I do have some misc things I wrote down concerning Nellie
but will need to substantiate it thru more research.
I have a notation I had written while visiting Asheboro library that
Nellie Bell had a son named Merphy Bell, age 17 in 1860 census. I also
had another notation I had written about these certain Bells & the
possibility that a "Alson" or "A.M" Bell was most likely "Merphy" Bell.
I do need to dig up all the diff things I have copied, etc to
substantiate more of this. There was a court record that I will
need to get that showed that the sherriff took Nellie Bell's 2 ?
children away and I believe this was in 1839.I will be going thru some of my old papers, etc to try and find some
more references to Merphy or Nellie Bell. In the mean time, would like
to hear from you.

PARENTS: This is an email John L. German sent to Mary Jarman Karr
on 21 April 2001:
"I have exciting yet frustrating news for you. If you will review my article identifying Emory Jarman as the father of William Jarman, David German and Emery Jerman, you will find mention of Francis Walker of Cumberland Co., NC. Well about four weeks ago I received a phone call from a Leah Walker McFee (6939 N 28th, Arlington, VA 22213; 703-534-0634). Mrs. McFee identified herself as a ggg-grdau of the above Francis Walker thru his son Solomon Walker and his son Lewis Walker. Mrs. McFee has a letter that was written by William Jarman to Lewis Jarman regarding the distribution of the estate of David Walker - bachelor son of Francis Walker. William was the administer of David Walker's estate in the 1850s. Mrs. McFee read to me a sentence from this letter where William Jarman says "Aunt Rachel" was not doing well. Mrs. McFee believes (and I agree) that this Aunt Rachel was the widow of Francis Walker JR. Given all the other interactions William Jarman had with the Walker family, I do believe this is telling us William Jarman was a grandson of Francis Walker Sen. - and this is onomastic evidence helping tie your Francis Jarman to this family. Mrs. McFee promised to send me a copy of the letter which I intended to share with you, but alas that was four weeks ago. I have written to her to remind her how much I would value a copy of this letter, but I am despairing that we may never get to see this letter; and this email is the only flimsy piece of evidence I will be able to give you."
