All of them I get from Randy Scott. He is and his wife are life long
residents of Richlands, Onslow Co., NC and they are related to almost
everyone. The easiest genealogy program for them is the phone book. Theodore
Marshburn is married to my daughter Barbara Ann Silliman and Many many are
his kin too. His aunt was Isabelle Marshburn Morton but I have not asked yet
who the Morton was. Not that interested as they are only related through
marriage...Bill

319. John Ivey Jarman

From: "Shirey Weaver"

Subject: My Jarman Files

From my mother's records, I have attached John Ivey Jarman's family.
We might be related??????????
Have you corresponded with a David Jarman who lies in North Carolina?
He has a different type of history and told me that my records were more
complete than his............
Thank you so much for the information.............
My grandparents were tobacco farmers in Jones County, North Carolina.
I was born in Jones County and my grandparents raised me as Jarman.
Hope I have not sent too much.

"Father - John Ivey Jarman was born December 1841 in Jones County, North Carolina. He was a barber and the barbershop later burned in Richland, North Carolina.
Mother - Julia Christine Rochelle was born May 1851. They married about 1872 and had twelve children according to family members:

1) John Ivey Jarman, Jr. - born November 9, 1874 - lived 6 years - Margaret Jarman tells the story about John Ivey falling out of a swing and dying.
2) Paul Jarman - date of birth unknown; however, he lived 18 months according to family members and records in their mind.
3) Effie Anne Jarman was born in 1877 and lived 3 years.

*Not sure about Calvin; however, there were 12 children born to Julia and
Ivey Jarman.
10) Nathan Ransom was born March 14, 1888 and Died March 6, 1958.**
11) Rachel Jarman Rhodes was born November 28, 1889 - died May 1981.
(Aunt Rachel was the youngest daughter of 12 according to Lila Mae Medley).
12) Romlus Talmadge was born January 16, 1891 - died Oct. 16, 1955.

These dates and names are from records compiled by Margaret Louise Jarman. Margaret was the oldest daughter of Nathan Ransom and Charity Rosabelle Coombs Jarman. She visited the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and spent many hours looking up members of the Jarman family. According to her notes, these records are located in Volume 38, E. D.59, Sheet 16 and Line 34. The records were updated June 22 - 23, 1900."
