John
I believe I have found Henry W. German born abt. 1811 in NC or Ga. in the 1860 census of Coosa Co., Al. He is listed as
H.W. Gurman. He is married to Rebecca and I believe she was a Peters since their is a W.W. Peters and a Lucy Peters living
in the household with them in 1870 Coosa Co. Al. I also believe this Rebecca was married to a McCoslin. H. W. Garma is
how he is listed in the 1870 Coosa Co. Census. They have the following children:

1. Andrew Jackson German born Nov. 1837 in Ga. died 3 May 1910 Jefferson Co. Al He md Lydia A. Coleman in Coosa Co.
on 22 Aug. 1865. Andrew also served in Co. B, 12th Alabama Infantry, Private. They had children John B, Ben F. and Lydia A.

2. Richard T. born abt. 1840 and died after 1910 if this is the correct one I found. He also served in Co. B., 12th Al. Inf. I
found a Rich German living in Boone Co, Kentucky in 1870 which states he was born in New York, in 1880 he was born in
Ga. Married to Sarah J. born in Kentucky and they have a Maude and in 1910 list a Robert L age 24.

3. My Sarah Jane German . She married Thomas Robertson 20 Sept. 1856 in Troup Co., Ga.

4. Ellen born abt. 1843

5. Robert L. ( I am assuming this is Reuben who was listed in 1850) In 1880 Coosa Co. he is living with wife Martha M.
Burton.

6. William Henry born July 1850 died after 1920 in Walker Co., Al. he married I believe Margarett Ezekial in Jefferson Co, Al.
on 19 Oct. 1874.

7. This child was listed as Nancy McOuslin age 10 in the 1860 census. I am assuming this daughter was of Rebecca's from a
previous marriage.

8. Mary born abt. 1853

9. James born Aug 1855 and was with a Malinda in Coosa Co., Al

10. Bethal born 1856

11. Elizabeth born 1857

12. Henry born 1858 md S.J. Brooks in Coosa Co., Al 26 Aug. 1880.

13. Samantha Jane born abt. 1860. Her and Henry are living in the household of Andrew J. German in the 1880 Coosa Co.,
census and he states they are his half brother and sister.

I believe Martha Barrow German must have died sometime after the birth of William Henry born in 1850. I have only found
these while playing on the computer. Stated putting in different spellings in Ancestry.Com but I do believe I have the correct
people. Maybe someone else is researching these and don't know who to connect them to? Martha Thrasher

234. Tresse Jarman

BIRTH-DEATH-BURRIAL: Tombstone rubbing sent by Wilford W. Horn, Sapulpa,
OK, 9 March 1979. According to the marker Tresse Jarman died 1862 which
conflicts with his estate probate record, but Wilford reports that his
grandfather H.J.P. Horne placed the markers on the graves many years
later.

GRANDFATHER: Deed from Tresse Jarman to Clement Gaddy, 28 November 1837,
"the following tract piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in
the County of Anson aforesaid on the waters of Jones Creek containing
100 acres being the lands left to the said Tressy Jarman by his Grand
father John Jarman deceased in his last will and testament," Anson Co.,
deeds, 13:208.

RESIDENCES: Tresse Garman is mentioned in the 1816 Anson Co., NC, will
of his grandfather, John Garman. On 26th November 1834, Tresse Jarman,
with James Chapple and Archibald Matthews (husband of Jenny Chapple),
all of Gwinnette Co., Georgia, gave power of attorney to Jesse Jarman to
secure for them their share of John Jarman's estate [Anson Co. deeds,
book Z, pp. 137-138]. Tresse Jarman is shown in the 1820 census of
Gwinnett Co., Ga. [p. 179], and in the 1840 census of Tallapoosa Co.,
Ala. [p. 164]; by 1850, he was in Clark Co., Ark.[p. 202].

BURIAL: Jarman graves, Arkadelphia, Clark Co., Arkansas
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=an&p=surnames.jarman&m=225
(posted 9 Mar 2003)
There is a tiny JARMAN family cemetery located off Hwy 8 (Pine Street) in Arkadelphia, Clark Co., Arkansas. This little cemetery in back in the woods on some privately owned land. There are six marked graves and the stones are in fairly good condition considering their age. They were recently discovered when the new owners of the land were clearing to build a home. I don't know anything about this family, nor am I related. I just wanted to share the information on the gravestones so these resting souls won't slip into obscurity. I hope this helps in the JARMAN family research. BIRTH-DEATH-BURIAL: Tombstone rubbing by Wilford Horne.

235. Jesse Jerman

BIRTH-DEATH-BURIAL: Tombstone inscription in the Carolina Genealogical
Society Bulletin, vol. XXIII #1 (summer 1986). This source reports Jesse
Jerman's birth date was 25 Nov 1792, however, other evidence supports a
later birth for him. Census records (see below) consistantly report him
younger than his tombstone would indicate, and his absense from the 1815
Anson County tax list could suggest he was not old enough yet to owe a
poll tax.

PARENTS: Jesse Jarman is mentioned in the 1816 will of John Jarman in
the same context as the children of John's deceased daughter Ester
Chappel. Also mentioned is a grandson Tresse Jarman who received a
bequest of land. Given the above evidence that Jesse is younger than
Tresse, it becomes understandable that it was Tresse who received the
land that John would have otherwise left a deceased son who would be the
father of Tresse and Jesse Jarman. The existance of a deceased son is
found in the 1790 census and in the language of John's will when he
refers to his wife and 6 children, but only names 5. Of further interest
is Jesse and Tresse both named daughters "Permilia" - a name not found in
other branches of the Jarman family.

SPOUSE: Recorded on death certificate of son Emery German, from
certified copy of certificate 12715-43, North Carolina State Board of
Health, Raleigh, NC.

CHILDREN: 1850 Federal census, Union Co., NC, p. 58, dwelling 848; 1860

GERMAN BIBLE RECORDS
(Rapides/Vernon/Sabine Parishes)

William German was an early settler of Rapides Parish in the area that later became Vernon Parish. He was buried in a pasture off LA Hwy. 111 and Old River Road near the Vernon/Sabine Parish line. At one time Hadden's Ferry was located here, and the area was quite prosperous. The tombstone inscription for this single burial was recorded in the 1970's, and published in the Louisiana Genealogical Society Register some years later. Now after years of neglect and abandonment, it was impossible to locate the burial site even after a repeated search of the area with a guide (1997). Although location of the original Bible is unknown, a copy of those records are in Folder 25-79, Jack Hadnot Microfilm, Vernon Parish Library, Leesville LA. Entries are transcribed exactly as entered in the Bible and submitted by Jane P. McManus.

What strikes me about the above records is the consistency of William's
birthplace. And its also curious that Virginia was born in MS - where
did William marry Louisa? The marriage was presumably near her parents
home so did the Wrights move to Mississippi briefly or did William marry
her in Louisiana and briefly take her back home to MS?????
