----------Carole,
Many years ago, when I was a teenager and just starting my research efforts, I was in correspondence with a Mrs. William Orville Cranor, who was a descendant of AMOS JARMAN, son of ROBERT HALL JARMAN and SUSAN SMALL She copied information from a family Bible for me which stated that ROBERT HALL JARMAN married SUSAN SMALL. I gave that data to the TN State Library and Archives, so I dont have a copy.Back then I was not interested in keeping my sources! What a terrible mistake on my part.
ROBERT (HALL) JARMAN died by June 4, 1849, when his sons, SHADRACK JARMON and
AMOS JARMAN were appointed administrators of his estate. Securities for their bond were GRANVILLE T. MEDLING, JOSEPH T. CASON, and S> B> HARDY. The bond was for $20,000. [QCR, 1848-1856, p. 85] SUSANNAH was still living and commissioners were appointed on the same day to allot to her and the family at home a year's provisions from the estate. Commissioners were JACOB B. LASATER, JOHN H. JOHNSON and WILLIAM LEA. [Ibid.]ROBERT JARMAN's admrs - ex parte petition for sale of slaves - Clerk to take proof. [CCR, 1846-1853, 1-8-1850, p. 222] The next day the Clerk reports that "the negroes mentioned are 13 in number and that there are 14 distributees to said estate. Negroes cannot be divided. Ordered so;ld at the late residence of ROBERT JARMAN, decd. [Ibid., 1-9-1850, p. 237.]

CASON et al v MATHEW GIBSON et al - petition to assign dower and sell land
SUSAN JARMAN, widow of ROBERT JARMAN, is entited to dower. She is will- ing to take the whole of her said dower in the homestead tract containing about 496 acres of which she is content to take the whole tract except that part of the tract designatied by the said ROBERT in his life time for said JOHN J. MARTIN, which said portion so taken by him (her?) lies west of the said MARTIN tract running east tot he line designated by the said ROBERT in his lifetime, containing 250 acres. Dower agreed. Sell the MARTIN tract, the BROWNING tract, the PATTERSON tract, the CASON tract, the MEDLIN tract, the BARLOW tract and the cedar tract. [Ibid, 7-4-1850, p. 301.][NOTE: both these entries in the Chancery Court Records are mis-entered by calling J. T. CASON ...J.C.]

JARMON for $7.05 per acre, there being 244 1/2 acres. The PATTERSON tract, containing 170 acres and 105 poles sold to HORACE PATTERSON for $18.55 per acre (description followed). The BROWNING tract containing 102 acres and 46 poles sold to K.C. BARLOW at $3.80 per acre (description followed). The BARLOW tract containing 120 acres and 40 poles sold to JOHN J. Clerk to take account. [Ibid., 7-10-1851, p. 391.]JARMAN's admrs v GRANVILLE T. MEDLIN et al - final decree
It appears that ROBERT JARMAN died intestate in Wilson County, TN, in the month of May, 1849, leaving a large estate consisting of lands, negroes and personal property. His wife, SUSAN JARMAN, and twelve children survived him. The deceased had thirteen children: AMOS, SHADRACK, ROBERT H., MARTHA C. who married GRANVILLE T. MEDLIN, ELIZABETH who married JOHN J. MARTIN, NANCY A. who married HARRISON LESTER, SUSAN B. who married STERLING HARDY, LOCKEY who married KENDALL C. BARLOW, DICY who married WILLIAM DILLON, MARY who married MATHEW GIBSON, and PHILOPENA who married ANZIE PATTERSON. The daughter, PHILOPENA, died before the said ROBERT, leaving two children: AMOS J. and LAVISA, who are now before the Court as defts. Since the death of said ROBERT, his daughter, JOANNA, who married deft CASON, has died leaving three children: WILLIAM, SOPHRONIA and REBECCA, who are before the Court as defts. It seems to have been the intention of ROBERT JARMON to divide his estate equally between his children by giving to each as they married or came of age a tract of land and articles of household and kitchen furniture. This in- tention was only partly carried out. Advancements made to ROBERT H. JARMAN, etc.....[These continue on the next several pages. I did not copy the particulars] The advancements to SHADRACK JARMAN begin on page 439, "in money, $1000; a mare, $30; bed and furniture, $25; cow and calf, $9; cups and plates, $2; Bible, 60 cents; two negro boys, $700; horse, $40; cash, $150; total for SHADRACK JARMAN, $1956.60. [I copied this because he is my ancestor.] After debts, there is for distribution, $4471.19. SHADRACK's share is $2644.43 1/2 less advancements of $1956.60, balance to be received $687.83 1/2. The share of MARY GIBSON is to be settled on her alone. [Ibid., 1-7-1852, p. 436ff]SUSANNAH JARMON died by October 4, 1852, when HARRISON LESTER was aptd admr of her estate, with JOSEPH T. CASON and AMOS JARMON, securities. Bond $2400. [QCR, 1848-1856, p. 586]
HARRISON LESTER, admr of SUSANNAH JARMON, decd - Petition for sale of slaves
It appears that SUSANNAH JARMON died intestate and that HARRISON LESTER has been aptd admr. There are three slaves and there are 13 distributees. Slaves are BETTY, WILL and CHARLES.. Ordered to be sold. [Ibid.., p. 592.]AMOS JARMON et al v WILLIAM CASON et al -
It appears that WILLIAM CASON, SOPHRONIA CASON and SUSAN REBECCA CASON are minors and have no regular guardian. Ordered that JOSEPH T, CASON be aptd guardian ad litum. [Ibid., p. 597.]AMOS JARMON, HARRISON LESTER et al v WILLIAM CASON et al - Petition for sale of land
It appears that ROBERT JARMON died intestate in Wilson County, TN, some years ago and that dower was assigned to SUSANNAH JARMON, his widow, and that SUSANNAH has since died; ordred that JOSIAH S. MCCLAIN sell land. [Ibid.]AMOS JARMON et al v WILLIAM CASON et al - Petition for sale of land
JOSIAH S. MCCLAIN caused the land of the heirs of ROBERT JARMON, decd, to be surveyed. Two tracts in Wilson and Rutherford Counties, the first 286 acres joings the land of ROBERT H. and AMOS JARMON, BURRELL PATTERSON, JACOB B. LASATER and others. The second joins the lands of ROBERT H. and AMOS JARMON and Dr. BAIRD and others., contains 34 (?) acres. ROBERT H. HARMON bought both tracts for $15 per acre. [Ibid., 11-1-1852, p. 606.]HARRISON LESTER, admr - Petition to sell slaves
LESTER as special comsr to sell slaves belonging to the estate of SUSANNAH JARMON, decd, reports that J. T. CASON bought Charles for $721 and HARRISON LERSTER bought Will at $270, and H. JARMON bought Betty for $221. [NOTE, the last named, H. JARMON, is not R. H. JARMON.] [QCR, 1852-1856, 12-6-1852, p. 12]HARRISON LESTER, admr of SUSAN JARMON, decd, having died before business was completed, AMOS JARMON aptd admr de bonis non of SUSAN JARMAN with securities S.B. HARDY and S. JARMON. Bond $3000. [Ibid., 9-4-1854, p. 326.]
On June 3, 1848, ROBERT JARMAN deeded to JOSEPH T. CASON 120 acres on Bradley's Creek. [DB X, p. 472f]
A. J. PATTERSON deeded 100 acres on Bradley's Creek to ROBERT JARMAN. [Ibid., 2-10-1845, p. 521.]
SHADRACK JARMAN to ROBERT H. JARMAN my fee simple interest in the land that ROBERT JARMAN died siezed and possessed. Said land is in Rutherford and WIlson Counties, the widow has a lifetime estate. [DB Y, 2-13-1852, p. 467.]
